TN Looms Geotag

1 Overview

TN Looms Geotag is the official mobile application developed by the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA), under the Department of Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.

This application facilitates authorised department officials in geotagging looms — capturing and recording the geographic location of handloom and powerloom units as part of the Government of Tamil Nadu's weaver welfare and loom registration initiatives.

2 Information We Collect

To provide loom geotagging functionality, TN Looms Geotag may collect the following categories of information:

• Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) captured at the time of geotagging a loom unit, to record and verify the precise location of registered looms.
• Location data may be collected continuously or at the point of survey while the official is conducting field inspections.

• Images of loom units captured via the device camera during the geotagging process for documentation and verification purposes.

• Details of the loom unit being tagged, including loom type, ownership details, and registration information as entered by the authorised official.

• Employee or official ID and department affiliation of the authorised government official using the application.

• Device model, operating system version, and application version for diagnostics and compatibility.
• Network information required to sync geotagging records with the central server.

3 How We Use Information

Information collected through the application is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• To record the precise geographic location of handloom and powerloom units across Tamil Nadu as part of official loom registration and weaver welfare programmes.
• To capture photographic evidence of loom units for verification, auditing, and government records.
• To sync geotagging records with the central government database maintained by the relevant department.
• To authenticate the identity of the authorised official conducting the survey.
• To ensure data integrity, diagnose technical issues, and improve application performance.
• To comply with applicable government regulations and directives relating to the textile and handloom sector.

Information collected through this application will not be used for advertising, commercial profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the official loom geotagging programme.

4 Data Sharing

TNeGA does not sell, rent, or trade any data collected through this application. Data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

• Within Government Departments: Geotagging records and loom data may be shared with authorised officials within the concerned government departments (such as the Handlooms and Textiles Department) solely for administrative, planning, and reporting purposes.
• Legal Obligations: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government directive.
• System Administration: Authorised technical personnel within TNeGA who maintain the application infrastructure may access data strictly for operational purposes, subject to confidentiality obligations.

No data collected through this application is shared with any commercial third party.

5 Data Security

We take the security of data collected through TN Looms Geotag seriously. The following measures are in place:

• Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between the application and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS).
• Access Controls: Access to geotagging records and loom data is restricted to authorised personnel only, using role-based access control mechanisms.
• Secure Infrastructure: The application's backend is hosted on government-approved secure infrastructure.
• Official-Only Access: The application is accessible only to authorised government officials; access is controlled through credential-based authentication.

While we apply reasonable safeguards, no electronic transmission or storage system is guaranteed to be 100% secure. We are committed to continuously improving our security practices.

6 Data Retention

Geotagging records and associated loom data are retained for the duration required by applicable government policies and regulations governing loom registration, weaver welfare records, and official field survey documentation.

As declared on Google Play, data collected through TN Looms Geotag cannot be deleted by the user, as records constitute official government survey and registration data maintained per statutory requirements.

Requests for correction of geotagging records (in case of errors) must be submitted through the appropriate departmental channels.

7 App Permissions

8 Children's Privacy

TN Looms Geotag is rated for users aged 3 and above on Google Play; however, this application is intended exclusively for authorised adult government officials engaged in official loom geotagging duties. The application is not designed for, directed at, or accessible to children.

9 Your Rights

As an authorised user of TN Looms Geotag, you have the following rights with respect to data recorded through the application:

• Access: You may request a summary of geotagging records associated with your official ID through your department.
• Correction: In case of errors in geotagging or loom records, you may request corrections through your department's designated process.
• Queries: You may raise queries or concerns about how data is handled by contacting TNeGA through the details provided below.

Given that geotagging data constitutes official government survey records, deletion of such records by the user is not permitted under applicable regulations.

10 Changes to This Policy

TNeGA reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, communicated through the application or official channels.

Continued use of the TN Looms Geotag application after changes to this policy are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage users to review this policy periodically.
